Guided by Signora Maria, a master baker who learned these cherished recipes from her great grandmother, you’ll discover the secrets behind Calabria’s most iconic sweets prepared just as they have been for generations.

Calabria is known for its rich culinary traditions, and its sweets are no exception. In our class you will learn to craft a range of traditional calabrese dolci including:
Biscotti Calabrese Crisp golden biscuits perfect for dipping in coffee or wine.
Almond biscuits which are soft and chewy with fresh almonds produced in the region. Pignolata which are sweet dough balls which are fried and coated in local honey.
This is more than just a baking class- It’s a journey into the heart of Calabrian culture.
As you knead, roll and bake with Maria, she will tell you stories of her great grandmother’s kitchen where sweets were made not just for taste, but to celebrate life’s most important moments. From Easter Sunday to San Giuseppe’s feast day, every sweet tells a story of family, faith and tradition.
Each recipe is made with natural ingredients from local almonds, honey and fresh eggs. We believe in preserving these flavours with the same passion and respect that Marias great grand mother did in her kitchen many decades ago.
What is included in your experience:
- Private transfers to and from Tropea.
- Hands on baking and preparing sweets. Roll up your sleeves and create delicious sweets from Scratch. Maria will guide you step by step, sharing tips and stories that bring each recipe to life.
- Wine and light antipasto to enjoy while you are baking.
- Home made liquors to enjoy with your creations made in class.
- At the end of class, you’ll leave with a beautifully wrapped assortment of your hand made sweets to enjoy during your stay in Tropea.
- Recipes will be provided at the end of class.
