Itinerary

This incredible seven-day Calabrian tour takes you to the very tip of mainland southern Italy, a zone which sits between both the Tyrrhenian and Ionian Seas.

Day 1

• Transportation from the airport or train station to the resort is provided.
• Arrive at your new home for the next 7 days - the luxurious 5 star resort in Parghelia. Take a moment to settle into your lovely suite and relax on the private terrace.
• Enjoy a welcome dinner at the resort's restaurant. Unwind from your journey as you are introduced to the unique flavors of Calabrian cuisine.

Day 2

• Breakfast served.
• Tour of Tropea. Tropea is one of the most famous touring spots in Calabria and features one of the best beaches in Italy.It boasts breathtaking views of houses built right into the stone cliffs. From the town you can view the famous Benedictine Sanctuary of Santa Maria Del Isola which sits on a promontory facing the historical town.You will be able to sample the best local fare from our favorite gourmet shops and admire the magnificent views of Tropea's crystal clear Tyrrhenian sea below.
• Afternoon drive into the hills to meet Marianna and enjoy first cooking lessons in her kitchen with full course evening meal to follow.
• Transport back to Tropea.

Day 3

• Following breakfast an enjoyable free morning on the beach or at the resort.
• Buffet lunch is available by the pool.
• Afternoon drive towards the town of Pizzo, visiting firstly Piede di Grotta , a church that sits on the beach in a grotto with life size hand built sculpures made from sandstone.
• Arrival in Pizzo a seaside town and fishing center . Here you will see the charming piazza and get to taste the famous original tartufo gelato.
• Dinner at own leisure.

Day 4

• Breakfast served.
• Morning is free to either laze by the resort's pool or private beach. Transport to Tropea is available at an extra charge.
• Second afternoon cooking outing in Marianna's kitchen followed by evening meal.

Day 5

• Depending on the time of year a day's excursion fishing for sardines, small tuna, and a local Calabrian fish called 'spatola'.
• You will leave from the port of Tropea or the Marina of Vibo Valentia to head out to sea to the best fishing waters off the coast.
• Alternatively, depending on the season ,A private yacht will transport you to the cape of Capo Vaticano to visit the Costa Degli Dei.Here you can swim or snorkel in the crystal blue sea or admire the beautiful views of the cape.
• Evening free.

Day 6

• Morning drive to Capo Vaticano to view the areas of outstanding natural beauty along the coast.
• Enjoy an 'aperitivo' overlooking the sea.
• Your afternoon cooking lesson with Marianna will focus on regional Calabrian sweets or dolce, as well as Calabrian versions of pizza called pitta. These are cooked in her old wood burning brick oven.
• Farewell evening dinner.

Day 7

• Following breakfast, transfer back to airport or train station.

Additional Tour Details:

The Seven Days in Calabria Tour departs with a minimum of two participants and no more than 8 people.

The tour is available from May till end of October.

Cooking classes are approximately 3 hours long and all are followed by an evening meal. All recipes and meals are based on local ingredients and change with the seasons.

To get to your accommodation in Parghelia, take a connecting flight from any major Italian city to Lamezia Terme. We will arrange transportation from the airport to the resort.

Alternatively, you can take a train to Parghelia or Tropea stations and, again, we will arrange for you to be picked up.
